Sustainable Timber Fencing: Our Commitment to the Environment

Lone oak tree in a field

Timber is a durable material which can be used in many ways as a fencing product, but if not grown sustainably or treated correctly, its longevity will be compromised. Substandard fencing materials not treated properly will need to be replaced more frequently, which undermines the effort to use timber sustainably.

How does Trentwood Fencing make sure the timber used is sustainable?

Trentwood Fencing takes environmental issues very seriously, which is why we only use timber that has been correctly treated to ensure long life and durability. All the fencing materials we use are supplied by Oxfordshire’s only fully certified member of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).

What is the FSC?

The FSC is an international organisation whose purpose is to promote responsible forest management and sustainability of the world's forests.

Established in the mid-1990s, it oversees certifications covering nearly 100 million hectares across 79 countries. With over 8000 companies holding Chain of Custody (COC) certification, the FSC reinforces the origin of timber from well-managed forest and helps consumers and traders make informed decisions about the timber they buy, ensuring they contribute to sustainable practices with each purchase.
