DuraPost fencing

What is DuraPost® fencing?

DuraPost® is a flexible fencing system built around strong but lightweight galvanised steel posts.

The posts can be combined with either timber or composite fencing, allowing homeowners to choose a style that suits the property, privacy and security requirements, and preferred level of maintenance. Matching gravel boards, post caps and capping rails can be added to create a coordinated finish.

Choosing DuraPost® does not mean choosing a fully composite fence. Some customers select DuraPost® posts with traditional timber fencing, while others choose a complete system of steel posts and low-maintenance composite panels.

The H-shaped post design is compatible with virtually any commonly used fence panel or fencing constructed on site.

If you are replacing an older timber fence or simply want a better-looking, longer-lasting alternative, DuraPost is well worth considering. Read more about DuraPost's features.

Why choose DuraPost®?

DuraPost® is particularly popular with homeowners who want a smart-looking fence that is designed to last and requires less ongoing maintenance.

Steel posts that will not rot

Manufactured from galvanised steel, DuraPost® posts will not rot, warp, split or crack like traditional timber posts.

A slimmer alternative to concrete posts

DuraPost® has a slimmer profile than concrete posts, creating a cleaner, less bulky fence line. Powder-coated finishes and matching components help coordinate the posts with the chosen fencing.

Strong but lightweight

DuraPost® steel posts weigh up to 80% less than equivalent concrete posts while still providing a strong supporting structure.

Tested for winds of up to 110mph

DuraPost® has been tested by the manufacturer to withstand wind speeds of up to 110mph, making it a strong option for gardens and boundaries in more exposed locations.

The performance of any completed fence will also depend on the height and design of the panels, ground conditions, the position of the boundary and the quality of the installation. Trentwood will assess the site and recommend a complete system suited to the location.

Compatible with different fencing styles

DuraPost® does not restrict homeowners to one particular style or material.

The posts can be combined with traditional timber or composite fencing, allowing the finished scheme to be chosen around appearance, privacy, maintenance and budget rather than being limited by the supporting post system.

A choice of colours and finishing details

DuraPost® steel posts are available in five main finishes:

DuraPost colours

  • Black
  • Olive grey
  • Sepia brown
  • Anthracite grey
  • Galvanised steel

Matching components include post caps, capping rails, gravel boards, channels and infill pieces. These details help create a coordinated finish.

Suitable for sloping and uneven gardens

The continuous fixing points within DuraPost® posts give the installer greater flexibility when positioning panels and gravel boards at different heights. This can make the system particularly useful where a boundary follows sloping or changing ground levels.

A more sustainable post option

DuraPost® steel posts are made using 50% recycled steel and are fully recyclable at the end of their useful life.

Relevant DuraPost® composite panel ranges contain approximately 60% to 70% recycled material and are also recyclable at the end of their useful life.

Long-term manufacturer guarantees

Depending on the product selected and the manufacturer’s terms, DuraPost® steel posts are available with guarantees of up to 25 years.

Relevant DuraPost® composite panel ranges are supplied with guarantees of up to 15 years. The precise conditions should be checked against the products selected for each installation.

DuraPost® posts with timber fencing

DuraPost® steel posts can be paired with timber fencing, retaining the natural appearance and warmth of wood while removing the risk of the supporting posts rotting.

Possible combinations include:

  • Close-board fencing
  • Feather-edge fencing
  • Traditional timber panels
  • Double-slatted panels
  • Hit-and-miss fencing
  • Picket fencing
  • Decorative European panels

This approach can suit both traditional and contemporary gardens. It may also allow timber panels to be replaced in future without replacing the supporting steel posts, provided the posts remain suitable and securely installed.

Trentwood has installed DuraPost® posts with several timber fencing styles, including contemporary double-slatted panels, close-board fencing and traditional picket fencing.

For lower ongoing maintenance, DuraPost® posts can be combined with composite panels that do not require regular painting, staining or sealing.

Depending on the range selected, composite fencing can provide:

  • A contemporary finish
  • Greater privacy
  • Lower ongoing maintenance
  • Coordinated posts, panels and gravel boards
  • A choice of colours and timber-effect finishes
  • An alternative to a fully timber fence

Composite fencing can be particularly suitable for homeowners who want an attractive boundary without the regular maintenance associated with traditional timber panels.

They are particularly worth considering where homeowners want a long-lasting fencing system without the bulk of traditional concrete posts.

Yes. DuraPost can be used with a variety of fencing styles, including traditional timber panels, closeboard fencing and more contemporary designs. Trentwood Fencing can recommend a suitable combination based on the appearance, privacy and level of maintenance you prefer.

DuraPost can be a good option for gardens in exposed positions because the steel posts provide a strong supporting structure. However, the overall suitability will also depend on the fence height, panel style, ground conditions and level of exposure. Trentwood will assess the site and recommend an appropriate system.

Yes. An existing fence can usually be removed and replaced with a DuraPost system, subject to access, ground conditions and the position of the current boundary. Trentwood can advise whether DuraPost is suitable and explain the panel and colour options available.
